Body found near Coquitlam forest road deemed a homicide

The discovery of a body near an abandoned vehicle in a forested area of Coquitlam has been deemed a homicide by investigators.

Coquitlam RCMP say they received a report of an abandoned vehicle on the 4000 block of Quarry Road at approximately 6:37 am this morning. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of an adult within the vicinity of the vehicle.

• UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as 39-year-old Surrey resident Jason Leigh Zellmer.

“The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time,” reads a statement by police. “The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Coquitlam RCMP.
