Snowfall warning: Up to 15 cm of snow expected on Coquihalla Highway

Apr 7 2017, 10:22 pm

It appears Old Man Winter isn’t ready to call it quits just yet.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning from Hope to Merritt for drivers heading out on the Coquihalla Highway this morning.

The weather agency says the snowfall – expected to be heavy at times – will continue throughout the morning, and total 15 cm.

That will change as the day rolls on though, with temperatures warming up and the snow level rising from 1,000 metres to 1,600 metres by this afternoon.

It’s the same weather story for drivers travelling between Merritt and Kamloops, as well as those taking the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.

Within Metro Vancouver, a special weather statement has been issued for an approaching wind storm expected to bring 80 km/hr gusts. The storm will arrive this afternoon.
