Police are asking for the public’s assistance after a 21-year-old man died in what appears to be a hit-and-run on the Coquihalla Highway on Sunday night.

Around 9 pm, Kamloops RCMP responded to the report of a body lying on the Coquihalla Highway, near the TransCanada Highway interchange.

In a release, police said it appears the victim was struck by a vehicle and the driver of said vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Now police would “like to talk to anyone driving in this area on Sunday night who may have thought they hit an animal or who now see damage to some part of their vehicle.”

The victim was wearing all black clothing and police noted it was dark there was no road lighting at the location of the incident.

“It’s possible that the driver of the vehicle may not have known they hit the victim or thought the impact was from an animal,” said police.

Anyone who may have any information on the incident, or may have seen something themselves is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at solvecrime.ca
