The new benches at Pigeon Park (pictured above) feature some awesome Haida (correct me if I’m wrong here) art carvings. I know what many are thinking but it’s Vancouver after all, so we always default to native art, it is a major part of the region’s history. Furthermore, the newly renovated park is less inviting to open drug use we’ve become accustomed to over the years.
However, that will not stop addicts, as locals have claimed they are slowly returning to their old stomping grounds. Although every time I sit on the bench the addicts choose to go elsewhere to get their fix. I guess they don’t like to shoot up next to someone in a suit, perhaps if many of us locals made an effort to set up shop at Pigeon Park we could eliminate the open drug use? Just a thought…
