Concert Review: Chance the Rapper shook Vancouver (PHOTOS)

Selling out the first Vancouver date of the Magnificent Coloring World Tour so quickly they had to book him in for another show the following day, Chance the Rapper is the truth.

Three mixtapes deep into his career, the independent rapper, singer, and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois is finishing up the North American leg of his world tour promoting his latest tape, Colouring Book.

Literally running onto the stage with the track “Angels,” Chance held nothing back from the sold-out arena despite this already being his 22nd stop in two months.

Without the use of backing tracks, during his performance the hip hop artist’s voice was definitely showing signs of strain. But enthusiasm pulled him through the highly produced yet authentic-feeling show from beginning to end.

“I wanna shake this bitch!” Chance yelled out to his fans before diving into the universally loved single, “Favourite Song” from his second mixtape Acid Rap. The young rapper held the crowd’s attention in his hands all night as they flawlessly recited every lyric and followed every prompt to a tee.

Other memorable moments from the show included the performances of Chance’s verse from “Ultra Light Beams” off of Kanye West’s latest album The Life of Pablo .”Smoke Again,” “No Problem,” and “Same Drugs” where he performed the soulful duet with a life sized puppet, also stood out from his crammed setlist.
