Come as you aren't at the Vancouver Halloween Expo

Dust off your Fullmetal Alchemist costume and strap on your proton pack, the Vancouver Halloween Expo is almost here.

One of Vancouver’s largest cosplay, anime, comics, games, and arts conventions; the Vancouver Halloween Expo is a veritable geek paradise.

Alongside exhibits and celebrity guests there’s also performances on October 15 and 16 with performances from Mascall Dance, The Mighty Wings Jazz Ensemble, MythMaker, and the Vaudeville Vagabonds, along with guests from the Young Artist Program at the Steinway Society of British Columbia.

On October 17 and 18, the Vancouver Halloween Expo will be in full swing, with vendors, cosplayers, traders, and collectors. There will also be guests, such as acclaimed voice actor Tiffany Grant, popular for such roles as Asuka from Evangelion and Sister Lena from the video game Fire Emblem. Academy Award-winning character creator and creature performer Tom Woodruff Jr. will also be in attendance, showing off his work from the X-Men, Spider-man, and Alien movies.

Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite comic, cartoon, or video game characters, superheroes, super villains, monsters, magicians, and everything – everything – in between.

There are a few rules however, outlined on the event’s website:

  • No masks or face paint
  • No blood or gore
  • No firecrackers, fireworks or explosives of any kind
  • No hateful costumes
  • No replica weapons of any kind will be permitted
  • No nudity or adult material
