39-year-old high-risk sexual offender wanted Canada-wide

Vancouver Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a high-risk sex offender who failed to return to his halfway house on Saturday.

According to a release, police say 39-year-old Christopher Russell Schafer has an extensive criminal history and is on a long-term supervision order after spending time for break-and-enter, sexual assault, uttering threats, and assaulting a police officer. As he failed to return to his halfway house, there is now a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

Police describe Schafer as Aboriginal, 5’8″ tall, 168 lbs., black hair, and brown eyes. There is a tattoo of “WANDA LEE” on the left side of his neck.

Anyone who sees Christopher Schafer, or has information on his location, is asked to call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
