Christmas Tree Lighting 2012 Vancouver celebration at Jack Poole Plaza

It’s time again for The Annual Amacon Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration! This family friendly event includes the lighting of a 50 foot Christmas tree, spectacular performances and celebrity appearances. Everyone is invited to kick off the holiday season in Vancouver on Thursday November 29th 2012 at Jack Poole Plaza from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. 

This year’s event is collecting donations for the following charities:

  • Rock 101 Cares
  • The Empty Stocking Fund
  • BC Lions – Courage for the Kids
  • The Vancouver Whitecaps – Whitecaps Foundation
  • B.C. Children’s Hospital
  • Lasting M.A.G.I.C.
  • Canada Company
What to expect at the Tree Lighting Ceremony:
  • Bro Jake from Rock 101 and Steve Darling from Global will co-host the event
  • Former Vancouver Canucks star Trevor Linden will officially light the tree
  • Appearances by members of the BC Lions along with the Felions
  • Carl Valentine of the original Vancouver 86ers will be onsite
  • Characters from the show “The Magic of Santa” will be present
  • Local band The Voodoo Allstars will be offering new renditions of classic Christmas favorites!
  • Special performances by Show Stoppers
  • Try out the city’s top food carts and food artisans, such as Re-Up BBQ and Guanco Truck!
  • Hot chocolate and espresso will be handed out for free all night

The last week of November and first week of December will usher in the Christmas season in Vancouver. Late in November is the opening of the annual Christmas Market and on December 2nd is the annual Vancouver Santa Claus Parade.

Where: Jack Poole Plaza (Next to the new Convention Centre, where the Olympic Cauldron is)
When: November 29, 2012. Festivities start around 5:30 pm.
Cost: Free
