Mayor Gregor Robertson announced today that he’s naming a new Chief of Staff. Deputy Chief Kevin Quinlan will take over the position on May 2 to strengthen focus on affordable housing, sustainability, transportation, and addressing poverty.

Current Chief of Staff Mike Magee will become Special Advisor, where he’ll be working with the federal government on social infrastructure, affordable housing, green infrastructure solutions on climate change, and rapid transit. He’ll also be working to bring more federal funding to Vancouver.

“Mike’s ability to get results will be a huge asset,” says Mayor Robertson in a release.

“Mike will also be focused on major projects such as international investment and economic opportunities related to the Greenest City Action Plan, and support for our growing innovation economy. He will serve in this role full-time for the next four months.”

These changes are one of several that have taken place in the past two months. After former city manager Penny Ballem was ousted in September of 2015, Sadhu Johnston was named interim city manager until March when he was given the position permanently. Additionally, former communications director Braden Caley left to become the Liberal Party of Canada’s senior director of communications earlier this year.
