A large barn fire in Abbotsford on Tuesday afternoon destroyed the building and killed the estimated 25,000 chickens inside of it.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 4184 Ross Road, around 12:45 pm.

Abbotsford Assistant Fire Chief Ron Hull told Daily Hive that at the height of the blaze, seven response units and 30 firefighters were on scene.

While the cause of the fire is currently unknown, Hull said investigators don’t consider the fire suspicious.

No humans were hurt in the blaze.
