If you still haven’t made plans for your holiday vacation and are after a last-minute getaway, here are five deals that will make you think Boxing Day isn’t the only time of the season to find a bargain.

1. Holiday Inn Resort at Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Canadians travel to Florida more than any other destination, and the Orlando area is a prime spot for snowbirds each year. Travelzoo Canada identifies this property as one that is particularly attractive because it is offering a 40% savings during the holiday season, with nightly room rates starting at $145. The Holiday Inn Resort Orlando – Lake Buena Vista is one mile (or 1.6 kilometres) from Walt Disney World. For families on a winter getaway, that’s an attractive price and an ideal location to explore the famous theme parks of Orlando.

2. Riu Playacar, Mexico

A $32-million renovation of the Riu Playacar property in the Mayan Riviera was completed in October. Facilities now feature three pools, an upgraded spa, solarium terrace and updated guest rooms. It’s also on the peninsula’s white sand beaches and accessible to all of Playa del Carmen’s assets, including terrific shopping. Guests will no doubt want to take advantage of tours that deliver them to Chichén Itzá and other historic Mayan sites in the region. Nightly room rates at the all-inclusive property start at $137 per person in December.

3. CHIC Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

For adults seeking a Caribbean getaway, this location is inviting for a few reasons. Most interestingly, it is the newest property on the island from Royalton Luxury Resorts. CHIC Punta Cana’s “December to Remember” package is an all-inclusive offer available until January 9, 2016. It costs $833 per person for a four-night stay, and includes a couples’ massage, a dinner at the chef’s table, and more.

4. Sunshine Mountain Lodge, Alberta

If you’d like to stay in Canada, Banff’s only ski-in, ski-out hotel is an ideal spot for winter sports lovers. Travelzoo Canada points out that the property is offering a 33% savings on its nightly rates during the holidays. Guests can book a room for $219, which includes two ski lift passes. Sunshine Mountain Lodge is also immaculately appointed, making for a comfortable stay in the exquisite Rocky Mountains.

5. Hamilton Hotel, Washington, D.C.

Located near the White House and the premier attractions of the U.S. capital, Hamilton Hotel is a boutique hotel that was built in 1922 and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. For the holidays, it has a number of offers that start at $109 per night, including its Winter Capital Celebration that provides guests with transportation to and from the resplendent National Christmas Tree. An underrated destination, Washington, D.C. has plenty that will impress you, including the Smithsonian museums, the bars and restaurants in the lovely Georgetown area, and beautiful public spaces, especially on the walkways along the Potomac River. Hockey fans will also want to indulge in the opportunity to take in an NHL game featuring the exciting Washington Capitals.
