New heat wave temperatures could be set this summer with the release of the sequel to Magic Mike.
The first trailer of Magic Mike XXL was released today, and it delivers a steamy preview of the super-sized goods: thumping chiseled man flesh.
It stars Channing Tatum, who begins the trailer with some suggestive wielding and furniture dancing – skills he first showed off in his two Step Up films.
Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, Kevin Nash, Joe Manganiello and Adam Rodriguez will also reprise their roles from the first film, while new faces will include Elizabeth Banks. Andie MacDowell, Amber Heard and Donald Glover. Matthew McConaughey will not return to XXL, presumably because of his recent run with success including an Oscar-calibre performance.
The original 2012 film is loosely based on Tatum’s experiences as an 18-year-old nightclub stripper in Florida and explored dark themes such as desperation. However, based on XXL’s first trailer, the sequel appears to revolve around the theme of addiction.
Magic Mike made over $167-million in the box office with a $7-million production budget. Its sequel will be released in theatres on July 3, 2015.
