The Cariboo Express, Vancouver’s rock and roots concert for a good cause, returns to The Vogue on November 28. The annual fundraiser, spearheaded by rock legend Barney Bentall, is a rollicking all-ages event in support of the Potluck Café Society.
The Cariboo Express is a one-of-a-kind variety show that’s crammed-full of renowned Canadian musicians, including Canadian superstar Barney Bentall, along with Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, Kendel Carson, Matt Masters, Wendy Bird, and special guests. How special? Last year, singer Jill Barber and guitarist Colin James both took to the stage for a few turns with fellow musicians. This year, Cariboo confirms the attendance of blues musician Jim Byrnes, but are sure to have other surprises up their sleeves for music-lovers.
At the heart of the show, joint MCs Barney Bentall and Matt Masters lay on the charm, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere that brings to mind a small-town shindig. From the gentle heckling of audience members and sponsors alike, to hyperbolic descriptions of the prizes in the always-popular raffle draw, The Cariboo Express transports the audience to a simpler time of community, music, and clean entertainment.
Over the past nine years, the show has raised a total of $250,000 in Vancouver for the Potluck Café Society, as well as over $500,000 for many charities in each community. Vancouver is the last stop on an epic western Canada tour that includes Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver Island, Salt Spring, and more. For Vancouver’s very own Potluck, it’s a crucial fundraising effort that supports the transformation of lives, by creating jobs and providing healthy food for people living in the Downtown Eastside.
Grab your tickets quickly and gear up for the ride! The Cariboo Express is coming to town for one night only, and it’s not one to miss.
