Light up your holidays at Canyon Lights (CONTEST)

Nov 24 2016, 3:58 am

The internationally famous Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Christmas light display is back for its 11th year.

Canyon Lights is one of Reuter’s top 10 spots for holiday lights in the world, and as soon as you step into the park after dark it’s easy to see why.

Starting November 24, the park is covered in hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights and special lighting effects to bring the festive spirit to Capilano’s beautiful nature walks.

Everything from the suspension bridge, to the Cliffwalk that hugs the side of the rock face, to the Treetops Adventure paths, to the rainforest and canyon itself are all festooned in the magical decor.

This year the forest will feature a new lighting display: Fireflies. Using giant flashlights, guests can create waves of light that shimmer like fireflies.

The park is also home to a 153-foot evergreen tree, which is transformed into the world’s tallest living Christmas tree during Canyon Lights.

Not everything during Canyon Lights is visual though. The event will feature a holiday band you can sing along with – or you can just listen and take in the sounds and sights of Canyon Lights.

Although the romantic lighting makes Canyon Lights especially popular with couples, there’s room for families here too. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is offering a family pass that’s only available during Canyon Lights. Plus, there are a lot of kid-friendly activities going on too, like the Snowy Owl Prowl, Christmas card making station, and gingerbread cookie decorating.
