After a season that many fans will understandably want to consign to history, there was some genuine excitement in Vancouver as the schedule for the 2016-17 season was announced.
That was until the Canucks social media team began flooding peoples’ Twitter feeds with a series of faux “Save the date” style invites that they sent to every team in the league.
Yes, that’s right, the Canucks were tweeting more than a budgie on Red Bull as they sent out 30 messages back-to-back, much to the bemusement of their fans, and some of their NHL counterparts.
If you weren’t on Twitter this morning – and let’s take a moment to be thankful that you weren’t – here’s a taste of some of the tweets which ranged from hilarious to just plain stupid:

Reaction to the Canucks’ social media bombardment wasn’t all good however. In fact plenty of their fellow teams, and fans, vented their frustration as the Canucks continued to post Tweet after Tweet.
