The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed Sven Baertschi to a one-year, one-way deal worth $900,000.
Last season, Baertschi scored 40 points in 51 AHL games and 6 points in 18 NHL games. But that only tells half of the story.
The 22-year-old Swiss sniper caught fire after being acquired by the Canucks. He had 15 points in 15 regular season games in Utica, plus another 15 points in 21 AHL playoff games.
Baertschi, who is waiver-eligible next season, is destined for his first full year in the NHL. It’s a big year for Baertschi, who will get a chance to prove he can be a top-6 goal scoring winger.
With the Baertschi signing, the Canucks now have 22 spots filled for their 23-man roster, leaving space for a young player to earn a spot in training camp.
