In what can only be described as a storybook ending, the past few days leading up to the Sedins’ final NHL game has been nothing but magical.
Between a Sedin mural that was packed with heartfelt messages, Daniel’s overtime goal, and a Viking clap started by Henrik, there was no end of heartwarming moments.
The twins were also showered with kind words by their colleagues from the hockey world, including a surprising message from Brad Marchand.
Yes, that Brad Marchand.
Congrats on a great career to the Sedins. Two of the best play makers to ever play the game! All the best in retirement.

Given the bitter rivalry between the Canucks and Bruins since 2011, the kind words came as a shock to most. Not everyone was willing to welcome his gesture.
Why don’t you just stay out of it @Bmarch63 thanks for the kind words that you actions never showed. Just go back to elbowing players and getting fined, something you’re good at. #rat #nothanks #Canucks

Having the dirtiest player in the game say this means nothing, if the same tweet was coming from Chara no one in Vancouver would have a problem. Coming from Brad though it’s completely meaningless.

I’m sure the Sedins would say thank you but you don’t deserve any gratitude or show of respect from them. You don’t deserve it from anyone actually. You should learn from the Sedins’ example. You can only dream of being as classy as they are.

Did Somebody with some class hack your twitter account?

Needless to say, there were a lot of doubting (and angry) fans. While Marchand has reputation for being hockey’s most famous instigator, the kind words are a classy move, if nothing else.
A lot of angry people… you’re acting like I took something from you ……

Although it looks like old habits, die hard.
