The Vancouver Canucks have made their third move of the day and acquire Derek Dorsett from the New York Rangers in exchange for the 85th pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Dorsett comes at a cap hit of $1.63M going into the last year of his contract before becoming a UFA.

Dorsett, 27, was drafted 189th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. During the 2012-13 shortened season, he was traded to the New York Rangers where he recorded 28 penalty minutes in 11 playoff games. Last season, Dorsett played 51 regular season games, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists with 128 penalty minutes. He played 23 games in the Rangers’ Stanley Cup run and had 1 assist and 19 penalty minutes.

Dorsett scored his first NHL goal on October 28, 2008 in a 4-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks.
