Build a blanket fort this Saturday and help sick kids

May 13 2017, 12:54 am

Want to help build the biggest blanket fort Vancouver has ever seen?

Well, children’s hospice Canuck Place is building a massive fort in the city this coming Saturday, May 13, and you’re invited to help with the construction.

The event is taking place at TELUS Garden near the corner of Seymour and Georgia, and it’s set to be an exciting, fun-filled day. This means you can enjoy music and entertainment through the day when you take a break from building the coolest fort you’ll ever see.

This event is taking place as part of a month-long ‘Best Day Ever’ celebration being led by Canuck Place. And to honour this, the non-profit wants you to spend tomorrow reliving your favourite childhood pastime on a supersize scale.

Kicking off at 11 am, the event will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Canucks legend, Daniel Sedin. Sedin will be signing autographs at the event from 11 am to 12 pm so make sure you bring something for him to sign.

Heroes and princesses from Pacific Fairytales will be parading around from 11 am until 1 pm so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get a cool selfie with them or even hockey mascot FIN. There will also be a story telling event for kids presented by Peppermint Toast Publishing.

You can get your face painted for the sheer fun of it by the folks from the John Casablanca Institute and jump in the photo booth by Dang Good Booths to get some memorable snaps.

Don’t worry if you work up an appetite building the ultimate blanket fort – you can fill up on foodie vendor treats like Archimallows, Cupcakes,  Earnest Ice Cream, or Mom’s Grilled Cheese. Oh, and Glowbal will be giving out free donuts to everyone. Seriously – free donuts.
