These are the most popular destinations Canadians are travelling to this March Break

March break is coming up, and it’s a perfect time for a getaway.

And this year, it looks like all eyes are on sunny destinations.

Canadians are setting their sights on warm beach destinations from Hawaii to New Zealand, according to travel website Kayak.

Kayak looked into the top most searched destinations on with search dates between June 2016 and January 2017, with travel dates of March 4, 2017 to April 17, 2017.

While the biggest spikes for March Break, included international cities like Athens, Reykjavik, and Auckland, sunny destinations like Cuba, Hawaii, and Costa Rica came on top for Canadians.

Ontario’s love for Cuba is evident with its 816 per cent increase of searches for travel during March break this year. Meanwhile, British Columbia continues to travel close, with a 233 per cent rise of searches for Maui, Hawaii this spring season.

In Quebec, the search for sun continues with a 92 per cent spike in searches for Cancun, Mexico.

And perhaps most surprising in Kayak’s statistics is Alberta’s sudden urge to head to New Zealand. The province looked into travelling to Auckland 203 per cent more than usual for March break this year.
