Canada Day is almost here and preparations for a  massive celebrations is underway: Canada Day 150 on Robson Street.

Hosted by the Robson Street Business Association (RSBA) and the West End Business Improvement Association (WEBIA), the event is kicking off at 11 am on Saturday, July 1, and running until 4 pm.

During this time certain areas will be temporarily closed. From Burrard to Denman Street the sidewalks will be packed full of entertainment, music, business promotions, and giveaways.

The south side of Bute, Jervis, and Cardero Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic to make way for other exciting activations. Bute Street is set to be launched as a pilot plaza for pedestrians on the day thanks to VIVA Vancouver so you’ll be able to enjoy things like a colourful outdoor lounge area with patio furniture and even a piano.

Hit up Jervis Street to check out the Timber Ball Hockey Tournament (TBHT) that kicks off from 12 to 4 pm – teams from local breweries will compete to win the highly-desired TBHT trophy.

Cardero Street will be closed as the West End Arts Display will be set up, showcasing musicians and artists. You’ll be able to snap up some barbecue fare here too (including s’mores) on Timber’s patio.

Make sure you visit Bute and Jervis Streets at 2 pm because the RSBA and WEBIA will be serving free maple flavoured mini cupcakes. And don’t forget that the national anthem will be the soundtrack to this sweet delight.
