You can get a free pair of pants at the Kit and Ace Gastown grand opening by sharing your feels

Spring is just around the corner (apparently), and that means you’re probably going to want to do an ‘out with the old, in with the new’ wardrobe haul.

So get this: Vancouver’s trendy technical apparel leader Kit and Ace is celebrating the grand re-opening of their flagship store in Gastown at 165 Water Street on Saturday, February 24.

If you were lucky, you may have stopped by the previous store location (two doors down) in January to shop apparel at amazing discounted prices during a 12-day closing down outlet sale. Don’t sweat if you missed it, because there’s more good news.

Kit and Ace want to give back to the community to celebrate the move to their brand new store. So they’re inviting the first 100 guests at the re-opening of their first store to participate in a Community Exchange.

How the Community Exchange works

The brand believes that “to create the next best thing, you may have to leave something you are fully invested in behind.” And so they want you to bring along a material item of sentimental value to leave behind. Your old sentimental item will become a storytelling art piece as part a community exhibit that will be featured in the store/windows.

You must be willing to share your story behind the item. For instance, if you moved from Toronto to pursue a new career in Vancouver, your item could be your old apartment key.

And in exchange? You’ll get a free pair of pants of your choice.

Hold on; it gets better.

By participating in the exchange you also get an entry to win a brand new Custom Copper Bike valued at $6,000. (We ain’t lying.) This coupled with your new pants could literally make the rest of your year. And the fact that Hoochy Booch Kombucha will have a pop-up at Kit and Ace’s grand opening with music by DJ Meeks.

The brand started out in their very first store in Gastown back in July 2014, and the rest is history. Technical cashmere was born and they created all-day wearables by taking the principles of athletic design and applying them to each collection.

Since Vancouver is partial to having four seasons’ weather in one week (you know it’s true), you’ll really want to have at least one pair of pants made from amazing material in your life. And this Community Exchange is arguably the cutest and most creative way you can get them.

If you’re in the Gastown neighbourhood on Friday, February 23 you can stop by the store to do some shopping with beats by DJ Roka playing in the background. The Juicery Co. will also have a pop-up in store on the day where you can try some organic, cold-pressed juices.
