North Vancouver RCMP are attempting to locate a thief who made off with a very expensive camera.
A $70,000 camera, in fact.
The theft occurred on Tuesday, July 31 at a camera rental store located on the 1200 block of East Keith Road.
Fortunately, the theft was caught on a surveillance camera.
The lone male had been in the store for a short period of time, before grabbing the camera off a shelf, allegedly concealing it under his jacket, and walking out the door.
The stolen camera was a model known as the Arri Alexa Mini Camera, with a serial number 20685.
According to RCMP, including the various accessories, it has a replacement value of up to $70,000.
Cpl. Richard De Jong of the RCMP comments that “the theft appears to be targeted with the culprit knowing precisely what he wanted to steal.”
Anyone who can help identify the person of interest or knows the whereabouts of the camera is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
