Put a bao on it: This Caesar creation takes brunching to a new level
Bao Down Snack Bar’s tropics-tinged and Filipino flavoured Island Brunch game is strong as-is, but the Vancouver bao powerhouse has really put the cherry on it. Or the, uh, bao.
This past weekend they introduced what they’re calling the “Grand Poobah” Caesar. It’s one of their house Caesars with the works, topped with a fried pork belly bao (aka an “emBAOnada” to riff on empanada) that also houses housemade pickles, sambal mayo, and a quail egg.
That’s like breakfast on your glass! The cocktail that drinks like a meal!
And if Vancouverites love anything on the weekend, it’s brunch And Caesars. And EPIC Caesars in particular (yo, Score on Davie, we’re looking at you!). Nice to see one of the city’s most colourful brunch menus is kicking it up a notch when it comes to their Caesars.

That said, if you don’t like that much of a garnish, their regular Caesar is pretty on point, and it comes with lumpia (aka a Filipino egg roll) as garnish. So civilized!
