Man in critical condition after hit-and-run in Burnaby

Burnaby RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run on Sunday evening that left an elderly man in “critical condition.”

Just before 9 pm, police were called to the 7400 block of Gilley Avenue for reports that a man had been struck by a vehicle.

The 68-year-old victim was taken to hospital and the driver of the vehicle did not stay at the scene.

Now, police are asking anyone who may have withnessed this collision, or may have photo or dashcam footage of it, to come forward and speak with them.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed that the involved vehicle is likely red in colour and will have damage to the front of it,” said Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. Ken Moe.

The vehicle was southbound on Gilley Avenue and the pedestrian was struck near the intersection of Beresford Street.

After the pedestrian was struck the vehicle continued southbound on Gilley Avenue without stopping,” said Moe.
