Man tied up and assaulted during Burnaby home invasion

A 51-year-old Burnaby resident is recovering in hospital after a violent home invasion on Wednesday morning.

Around 10 am, officers were called to a home in the 4600 block of Bond Street after receiving a report of a home invasion in progress.

Police received the report after one occupant of the home managed to escape the incident safely and call police.

Another occupant in the home, a 51-year-old man was tied up, assaulted and robbed.

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries as a result of the attack.

The four male suspects who were involved in the invasion were arrested “within minutes” of attempting to flee the scene, thanks to what Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Daniela Panesar called a “quick response.”

That quick response, she added, “ensured that the suspects posed no further danger to the 51-year-old victim or to the general public.”
