Are you looking for a change in career? Do you picture yourself working in the film or animation industry?

If your answer is yes, then you should check out Capilano University’s Bosa Centre for Film and Animation open house on Saturday, February 25.

Vancouver’s film and animation industry is booming and Capilano University grads are playing a big part in it. The open house is a great opportunity to find out if you’d like to do the same. The event takes place at the Bosa Centre for Film and Animation at Capilano’s North Vancouver campus where industry training takes place.

You’ll get a look into the virtual environments and 3D action at the Centre’s Studio A sound stage. Immerse yourself in the virtual environment of Cascadia – a film about humanity’s struggle to survive after the polar ice caps have melted.

Cascadia brings together students from diverse programs at the School of Motion Picture Arts to create a virtual performance in a green screen environment. Motion capture characters are integrated into the shooting plan with VFX elements and 3D photography.

“Visitors will see students working at a high level of industry practice in creative and technical fields,”  says School of Motion Picture Arts instructor, David Hauka.

In Studio B, you can test out a virtual reality headset. Students from the University’s Motion Picture Arts degree will  be on site to teach you about different camera set ups and techniques.

You’ll also get to enjoy a tour of the Bosa Centre led by those who know it best – the students. Get a look into state-of-the-art sound mixing and recording suites, picture editing labs and studios for visual effects, animation, filmmaking, and costuming.

If you have a portfolio, bring it along for a friendly critique from animation faculty and alumni which could improve your application to the animation programs.
