A couple months back it was announced that Vancouver’s iconic discount bookseller, Book Warehouse, will be closing up shop for good. However, the original 632 West Broadway location will now remain open as it has been sold to Black Bond books.  A little victory for bookstores in the era of digital sales.

From newswire:

“We are absolutely thrilled to announce Black Bond Books are taking over operation of the Broadway Book Warehouse” said former owner Sharman King in revealing the sale. “For over three decades Vancouver book lovers have been finding books and bargains at 632 West Broadway. We’re delighted the tradition will continue in the good hands of Black Bond Books.”

A three generation family business with an impressive fifty year history, Black Bond Books brings a wealth of experience, resources and knowledge to Book Warehouse. Black Bond Books operates eleven Lower Mainland bookstores from Mission to Lynn Valley. Owners Cathy and Mel Jesson stress the commitment of their family to their new Book Warehouse initiative. Daughter Caitlin Jesson has assumed management of the Book Warehouse and is very actively planning her grand opening.

Book Warehouse will continue its clearance sale until May 26 and will reopen with an exciting, all-new selection of titles June 1
