Vancouver Police have found a dead body inside one of the tents at the controversial Oppenheimer Park encampment.

“There are no details yet on whether the death is considered suspicious,” reports CBC Vancouver.

Wednesday is “eviction day” for the homeless and protester encampment that has been in place at the Downtown Eastside park since mid-July.

Police also removed a man from the campsite in handcuffs Wednesday.

Campers are to be out of the park by 10 p.m. tonight.

The VPD intends to use body-mounted cameras on personnel during tonight’s eviction.

UPDATE: The VPD say the victim’s death is not suspicious. “Police and the Coroner attended and there are no visible signs of violence or trauma,” notes the VPD in a media release, adding: “The victim is thought to be 69-years-old, but has not been positively identified. The VPD has turned the investigation over to the BC Coroners Service.”
