BMO Vancouver Marathon Road Closures 2012

The annual BMO Vancouver Marathon takes place this Sunday May 6, 2012. Unlike the Vancouver Sun Run, this marathon will impact more neighbourhoods throughout the city. Expect traffic disruptions/road closures in many of the city’s downtown and West Side neighbourhoods.

Also to all you Vancouverites that enjoy a good  Sea Wall walk on a hopefully sunny Sunday, it will be closed to pedestrian traffic from 9:00am to 12:00pm from Second Beach to Lumberman’s Arch.

Here is a full list of all major road closures for the BMO Vancouver Marathon:

Downtown/West End BMO Vancouver Marathon Road Closures

  • May 5th 7:00am to 6:00pm May 6th: Thurlow from Pender to Cordova closed– all traffic
  • Midnight -5:00pm: Hastings St. from Burrard to Thurlow closed – all lanes
  • LOCAL ACCESS Howe & Beach – Local Access Only
  • 6:00am – 4:00pm: Pender from Burrard to Georgia St –westbound lanes closed
  • 6:00am – 4:00pm: Burrard from Pender to Hastings – one southtbound & parking lanes closed
  • 7:30am – 4:00pm: Denman from Georgia to Seawall – closed – local access via Bayshore Drive
  • 7:00am – 10:30am Stanley Park Roads – Closed(causeway open)
  • 7:00am – 10:30am Beach from Stanley Park to Denman – closed
  • 7:00am – 2:00pm Beach Ave from Denman to Burrard – one eastbound lane closed
  • 9:00am – 2:00pm Pacific St from Jervis to Burrard – one eastbound lane closed
  • 7:00am – 9:30am Beach from Jervis to Granville – eastbound lanes closed
  • 7:00am–9:30am Granville from Beach to Pacific – closed – local access via westbound Beach to Howe
  • 6:45am – 9:00am Pacific St from Burrard to Seymour – eastbound lanes closed

  • 6:45am – 9:00am Homer from Pender to Robson – all lanes closed

  • 9:00am – 2:00pm Burrard Street Bridge – Pacific to Cornwall – (one southbound travel lane open)
  • 6:00am – 8:30am Cambie Bridge (northbound) – from W2nd to Pacific–westbound lanes closed
  • 6:00am – 8:30am Cambie Bridge exit ramp to Pacific Boulevard
  • 6:45am – 9:00am Pacific Blvd from Nelson to Quebec – all lanes closed

Yaletown/Chinatown BMO Vancouver Marathon Road Closures

  • 6:45am – 9:00am Quebec/ Columbia from National to Pender –southbound lanes closed
  • 6:45am – 9:00am Pender from Columbia to Homer – eastboundlanes closed
  • 6:45am – 9:00am Union from Quebec to Expo – closed

Stanley Park BMO Vancouver Marathon Road Closures

  • 8:00am-4:00pm: English Bay to Coal Harbour – One lane of Stanley Park Seawall closed – Event Use
  • 7:00am-10:30am Park Drive & Pipeline Rd – closed

Kitsilano/Point Grey BMO Vancouver Marathon Road Closures

Naturally with all these road closures there will be transit disruptions. Your best bet is rapid transit.
