Blanket Barricade will be playing live at the Railway Club with The Velvet Chameleon and Dreamboat Money to celebrate the release of their newest single “We Fit Together.” The release party, presented by Amp Records, will be this Monday, June 16 at 8 p.m.
Blanket Barricade is a local Vancouver theatrical rock band that explores and expands upon the sonic space championed by groups such as Arcade Fire, The Smashing Pumpkins and Pink Floyd. Their music invokes nostalgic feelings of youth, a time when we were curious about the little things in life, and when magic was found everywhere. These notions of playfulness are conveyed through their songs by what Wesley Krauss, the front man of Blanket Barricade, describes as a progression “from a soft inconspicuous start to a majestic noise filled end punctuated by tubular bells, choirs, and walls of washed out guitars.” The conjured feelings of one’s adolescent days of a carefree state of mind open to infinite possibilities has been adapted into a creative way to promote their single.
Promotions of their release party and the new single “We Fit Together” sticks with the theme of nostalgia for simpler times. Blanket Barricade will be distributing custom cootie catchers (like the one shown above) around Vancouver. If you happen to be lucky enough to get your hands on one of these cooties catchers, you have a free ticket to the show as well as a free download of their new single “We Fit Together.” The exact locations of distribution will be posted through Blanket Barricade’s Social Media Accounts, but expect these locations to be local record stores, coffee shops, and other stores around Vancouver.
Follow Blanket Barricade on Facebook and Twitter to find out the newest locations to obtain a cootie catcher and attend Monday’s event. The show will also provide audience members with creative ways to promote face-to-face interaction to foster engagement between sets, and to inhibit our habits of staring into the phone. Some of these activities include cootie catchers and colouring games that will be provided on each table. Check out Blanket Barricade’s single “We Fit Together below and keep your eyes open for those cootie catchers!
