Without any warning, a massive catalpa tree uprooted and fell onto a condominium building in downtown Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood late this afternoon.
It occurred at approximately at 4 pm and caused damage to a building located on the 1800 block of Nelson Street between Denman and Gilford streets. It also caused the concrete sidewalk to buckle up from the ground.
Nobody was injured when it fell over. Crews with the City of Vancouver are on site to assess the situation and remove the tree.
