Yoga is as much a part of Vancouver life as mountains, cycle lanes, and misfiring sports teams.

So whether you’re a beginner looking to find your zen or an expert looking to say namaste to a new space, here are 10 great Vancouver yoga studios to get your ohm on at.

 

YYoga 

With multiple locations across Vancouver, YYoga makes it easy to practice wherever you are. With 24 styles of yoga and over 900 classes a week, this studio also offers hot yoga classes, spin class known as Yride and a guided meditation class.

Drop in rate is $20, or purchase a 5 or 10 class pass, and for unlimited yoga classes try their monthly pass.

Located in Yaletown, this yoga studio specializes in everything hot yoga. So grab your mat and get ready to sweat while doing the 26 traditional yoga postures in this one-hour only class, all while in a infrared heated room.

If you’re looking for something a bit more intense, try Oxygen Yoga & Fitness. Their classes are known to combine yoga with challenging aerobics exercise to get your heart racing, all while in a far infrared heated room.

They offer various classes from hot power yoga to deep stretch and relaxation. New classes include Bar Flow and Bar Fusion, as well as Broga, a class designed specifically for men.

Practice your warrior pose without breaking the bank. Vancouver yogis know that classes are not always cheap, but Karma Teachers studio in Gastown is changing that.

The yoga studio is all about community building, and has an open door policy to anyone who cannot afford yoga. They offer all classes by donation or if you have nothing to give, simply a smile will do – how sweet! They are known as one of Canada’s only full time yoga studio who operates solely on donations.

Where: 45 West Hastings Street, Vancouver

Hours: everyday 6:30 am – 7:30 pm

You can also try a Karma class at Unity Yoga Teahouse, on Saturdays you can attend their class by simply bringing a non-perishable item to donate to the Vancouver Food Bank.

Other classes include Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa and Acroyoga with a partner. This class welcomes all levels and combines traditional yoga with acro-balance and Thai massage all in one.

Moksha Yoga has four locations in Vancouver, and combines hot yoga and community, while offering a variety of classes for all skill levels. Each class combines therapeutic and traditional yoga postures in a 35% humidity heated room, while focusing on strengthening and toning your muscles.

They also have a shop on site that is open Monday and Wednesdays from 2 pm – 6 pm selling a variety of yoga accessories including mats, blocks, meditation props, salt lamps and more.

One Yoga for the People


One Yoga for the People is a vinyasa studio located in Gastown. They offer a variety of classes, along with youth classes to encourage young individuals to pursue yoga. The studio also offers YOGO.tv that allows you to take classes online.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 10 am – 9 pm, Friday 10 am – 9:30 pm, Saturday 6 am – 7:15 pm, Sunday 10 am – 8:30 pm

The Hot Box Yoga 

Heated to just 32°C, this studio is 25% cooler then most hot yoga studios. On their website they say “We prefer our guests to flow, and not faint” making it perfect for beginners to hot yoga. With more than 10 different class styles, this modern studio located near UBC is perfect for students.
