It’s that time again: the ever-popular Vancouver Folk Music Festival returns to Jericho Beach on July 18 to 20. Join fellow Vancouverites for a musical extravangza on the best weekend of your summer.
There’s something for everyone at the 37th annual Folk Music Festival’s cross-genre lineup. This year boasts over 60 artists and groups from 12 different countries, 7 provinces and 12 states. The action doesn’t let up for a moment, with multiple daytime stages, early evening and Main concert stages.
Music For All: Headlining the 37th annual Folk Music Festival are Amos Lee, Wintersleep, Joan Baez, Great Lake Swimmers, Born Ruffians and more. Local B.C. talent Fish & Bird, Brasstronaut, and Jay Malinowski (formerly of Bedouin Soundclash) round out the mix. The festival also features international flavour from all over, including Egypt, Mexico, Mozambique and Korea. Full lineup details here.
Opening Night: The Festival also gives a nod to the important First Nations heritage of Vancouver, with Friday night’s special opening ceremony featuring First Nations performers and legendary women’s music artist Ferron.
Festival Eats: A wide range of food vendors, artisan markets, a community village and Little Folks Area are also on hand to keep festival goers and families fed and entertained for the entire weekend.
