Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Or do you think Freud is a way to prepare chicken?

Whatever your IQ, there are scores of trivia nights at bars across Vancouver where folks gather weekly to match wits, compare brain sizes, and of course, eat nachos.

So grab a friend (or five) and fulfill your pursuit for trivia at these fine venues.

Biltmore Cabaret

We all know who shot Mr. Burns, but do you know which celebrity was buried in the suit that Mr. Burns wears in every Simpsons episode? If so, Woo Hoo Simpsons Trivia might be the perfect place for you and your (Pin) pals to hang for an evening. Currently at the Biltmore Cabaret, the monthly event is divided into three hilarious segments and focuses on the show’s Golden Era (seasons one thru nine).

East Side Craft House

The East Side Craft House combines trivia with a good ol’ fashioned key party. After each round, the top scoring team receives a key – the more rounds you win, the more keys your receive. At the end of the night, the Quizmistress draws a key from the bowl, and the keyholder receives….a $50 gift certificate! Players can get a leg up on the competition by visiting the bar’s Facebook group for one free answer every week.

They pride themselves on being “Vancouver’s Original Nerd Bar”, and Storm Crow’s bi-monthly trivia night brings all the nerds to the yard. The game hits the Commercial Drive location on the first and third Tuesday of every month, and heads to the West Broadway spot on the first and third Wednesday. Four rounds, ten questions, and the three highest-scoring teams win geeky swag.

Colony on Main

Trivia fans familiar with IQ 2000 can play at both Colony locations; Colony on Main hosts at 8 pm on Mondays while Colony in Kits hosts at 8pm on Wednesdays. The games are nearly identical (4 rounds, 9 or 10 questions, lots of laughs), but the Main Street restaurant is usually busier which makes for more friendly competition.

Moose’s gets crazy busy for trivia on Wednesday nights – you’ll need to call ahead to make a reservation but it’s totally worth it. The hosts are great and there are mini-games in between question rounds to keep things interesting (paper airplane contests?! Yes, please!). Game winners can choose between Moose’s merch or can try for a cash prize by correctly answering a tough bonus question.

Richard Romano Carlsen emcee’s the Junction’s weekly trivia night on Mondays. The game is divided into two rounds comprised of 20 questions each and also has a “name that tune” segment where players can rack up extra points by identifying both the artist and song title. During intermission, folks can play “tops or bottoms” (aka heads or tails) for a free pitcher of beer.
