Sure, it’s an honour to be nominated, bur four Vancouver restaurants have a shot at being named the People’s Choice in the popular annual Canada’s Best New Restaurants list.

From a list of 32 contenders, four Vancouver restaurants that made their debut this year are up for the award. They are:

  • AnnaLena: This Kitsilano gem is from the creative culinary mind of Michael Robbins, a former Top Chef Canada chef-testant who left The Oakwood to get cooking in his own space, named for his two grandmothers.
  • Bauhaus: High-end German-inspired fare in the heart of Gastown is part of the rising tide of tasting menus and fine dining in the city.
  • Grapes & Soda: Adjacent to its sister restaurant, Farmer’s Apprentice (2014’s #2 on Canada’s Best New Restaurants list), this is a natural wine bar with food and cocktails that focuses on fresh ingredients and exciting flavour pairings.
  • Sai Woo: Old Chinatown gets a new twist, with uniquely Canadian spins on Pan-Asian flavours.

Three of these terrific newcomers landed on our Best New Restaurants of 2015 at the mid-way point of the year, and all four are certainly among the most talked-about and tasty restaurant new ventures right now in Vancouver.

Canada’s Best New Restaurants is backed by enRoute Magazine. This year’s panel of food biz luminaries include a roster of journalists, TV personalities, and other industry pros from across the country. Voting for People’s Choice ends on September 30.
