Did Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games’ song composers rip off the famous ‘Let It Go’ song from Frozen?

The International Olympic Committee selected the Chinese capital as the host city for the Games on July 31. In addition to questioning Beijing’s suitability to host the Winter edition of the Olympics, many are now wondering if the bid committee’s “The Snow and Ice Dance” theme song is a copy of Disney’s Frozen ballad.

The Olympic theme carries a similar melody as the song sung by Idina Menzel in the film. It even has the same meter and gentle piano theme that builds up the song.

Beijing defeated its only other competitor, Almaty, Kazakhstan, in a 44-40 vote, making it the first city in history to host both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. This will also be the first time that three consecutive Olympics will be held in Asia: Pyeongchang 2018, Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022.
