Where’s Waldo? Those who attended Sunday’s NHL Heritage Game at BC Place might remember being asked by the announcer to smile for a gigapixel photo.

The NHL commissioned Minneapolis-based Blakeway Worldwide Panoramas to produce a 360 degree gigapixel panorama of the Heritage Game played between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators. The stunning capture of the entire stadium circumference is astonishingly detailed and allows viewers to zoom close-up into the faces of the crowd of 54,194.

This is the second time a gigapixel image has been produced to capture a Vancouver Canucks audience outside of Rogers Arena. A gigapixel was also taken on West Georgia Street on June 15, 2011 when 100,000 people convened to watch the outdoor screening of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. That image was taken prior to the riot.
