Revolutionizing small-space living: Honomobo brings in shipping container homes

Jan 28 2017, 12:54 am

Shipping containers aren’t just for transportation.

Canadian company Honomobo, based in Edmonton, Alberta, takes ordinary shipping containers – ranging in size from 207 to 1,380 square feet – and turns them into modern homes, designed for simple and practical living.

Easily stacked or relocated, these shipping container homes are not only livable, but feature endless applications and beautiful, yet practical, design throughout. And you’ll be able to one out for yourself at the BC Home + Garden Show from February 22 to 26.

This show home spans 704 square feet and will showcase all the things Honomobo homes are known for: efficient design and durable construction, that reduces construction timelines from months to weeks.

The show home’s interior is designed by local boutique interior design agency Kendall Ansell Interiors, and the landscaping is done by Blue Pine Enterprises. And, as you’ll be able to see at the show, the home isn’t just practical and compact – it’s strikingly modern.

At its heart it’s also a modular home, which means it can be taken apart and moved to new locations as needed by the owner. This is, naturally, ideal for bringing it to shows like the BC Home + Garden show.

This is the first time Honomobo will be at the BC Home + Garden Show. The show will also feature industry celebrities and experts on everything to do with your home and garden projects – inside and out.

Catch your favourite HGTV stars, including Bryan Baeumler, Carson Arthur, Mike Holmes Jr., and Tiffany Pratt, on the Main Stage throughout the week. There will also be live cooking demos from some of Vancouver’s top chefs, as well as more than 425 exhibitors and local companies. And of course, don’t forget to tour Honomobo’s unique container home.
