BC Ferries adding over 85 extra sailings for May long weekend

In anticipation of what is the unofficial start to the summer season, BC Ferries is adding more than 85 extra sailings on the most popular routes during the Victoria Day long weekend.

The extra service is available from Thursday, May 18 through Tuesday, May 23.

The routes include:

  • 60 extra sailings are scheduled on the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route
  • 15 extra sailings are scheduled on the Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay route
  • 10 extra sailings are scheduled on the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route
  • 4 extra sailings are scheduled on the Earls Cove – Saltery Bay route

The most popular travel times for the long weekend are expected to be Thursday and Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning with the majority of traffic departing from Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay terminals.

BC Ferries says that historically, the holiday Monday is an “attractive time” for travellers returning from Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

“Our latest promotion starts in time for the Victoria Day long weekend so our customers can take advantage of deep discounts on select sailings over the weekend,” said Janet Carson, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Marketing and Travel Services in a statement.

From May 18 through September 15, BC Ferries is also offering passenger vehicle and driver fares from $39, $49, and $59 on select sailings on the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay, Tsawwassen – Duke Point, Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay routes and $39 return-trip fares on the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route on select evening sailings.
