The US Geological Survey (USGS) has detected a magnitude 4.7 earthquake that occurred off the coast of Vancouver Island on Friday evening.
According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at 11:33 pm in a location about 272.5 km west of Tofino.
This is the second earthquake to happen in BC over the past week. On November 29, a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in a location about 22 kms away from Fort St. John.
Earlier on Friday, back-to-back magnitude 7.0 and 5.7 earthquakes shook Alaska, causing damage to roads and buildings.

In October, a series of sizeable earthquakes also took place off the coast of Vancouver Island.
