Kick off BBQ season with this awesome fundraiser that's supporting kids

Summer’s almost here and so is barbecue season.

So why not eat and have fun for a good cause? On Thursday, May 4 you can do just that by visiting the annual public Jeans Day BBQ hosted by Truffles Fine Foods.

Taking place at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the BBQ lunch will support the BC Children’s Hospital, with all funds raised going toward the the Excellence in Child Health Fund.

The hospital relies on this fund for urgent needs like specialized research into childhood diseases, purchasing and upgrading of medical equipment, along with education programs for families.

And what’s really cool is that it’s easy for you to help out by simply pre-ordering your lunch for $12 or purchasing a $15 lunch at the Jeans Day BBQ. But if you can’t make it to the event, you can always purchase a virtual pin or button online.

If you can’t make it down to the Vancouver Art Gallery between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, you can order lunch online from foodora instead as the company will be delivering Jeans Day lunches to businesses around Vancouver. Just remember to pre-order 48 hours in advance to receive the flat rate of $15.

And to make it even better, everyone who pre-orders a Jeans Day lunch through Foodora will be entered into a draw to win a custom Portmanteau Stereo. Pretty awesome, right?

You’ll also have the opportunity to have your picture taken with celebrity athlete ambassadors including Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks, David Edgar of the Whitecaps FC, and Jason Arakgi of the BC Lions. Oh, did we mention there will be team mascots and entertainment, too?

“We are excited for this year’s BBQ as Truffle Fine Foods is generously donating all of the food, and some of Vancouver’s favourite athletes will be in attendance,” says Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“We have a Jeans Day goal to raise $1.2 million and all proceeds from the BBQ go to Jeans Day; ultimately supporting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

Have lunch for a great cause by enjoying the Jeans Day BBQ. Of course, you’ll want to show your support for the BC Children’s Hospital by rocking your best denim jeans, or the classic double denim outfit.

Remember to use the hashtag #JeanUp on social media, posting your denim outfit on your social media channels and tagging @bcchf.
