Vancouver is getting its very own bacon festival this fall

Vancouver’s bacon lovers will get their very own festival and the opportunity to eat all the bacon they want when The Bacon Convention makes its debut this fall.

On September 24 and 25 the PNE Forum will be transformed into a “pancetta paradise” by over 100 booths occupied by local breweries, distilleries, restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, and bacon-y retailers.

Vendors will be offering bacon-themed/wrapped/filled food and drink samples, and there will be contests and activities to entertain.

“Imagine a combination of the Food Truck Festival and Vancouver Craft Beer Week at the PNE, now wrap it in bacon,” says Mark Sheehy, one of the directors of the Bacon Appreciation Society (a not-for-profit corporation created to celebrate and promote local economy, products, culture, businesses, culinary innovation, and of course bacon!).

A bacon eating competition is “happening one way or another,” says Sheehy. Also, a contest involving guest and vendor submitted bacon art and sculptures is in the works.

While nothing set in stone yet as per exact menu selection from the vendors, Sheehy says that attendees can expect offerings to include bacon caramel chocolates, bacon donuts, pork belly sliders, bacon-infused cocktails, and its looking like a few breweries will even offer bacon beers.

As for tickets, there are two sample tokens and a souvenir sample mug included to get people started, and additional tokens will be available for purchase once inside.
