The BC government has back tracked from their initial stance by not allowing bars to stay open late or open early for the gold medal game. The government has agreed to allow bars to open early or stay open late so people can watch early-morning hockey games from Sochi.

However, there’s one major catch: there will be no liquor service allowed.

Any establishments that want to extend their hours must apply to the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch by noon Friday.

The gold medal game will take place at 4 a.m. PST on Sunday, February 23.

Tomorrow, on Friday, February 21, Canada will play the United States at 9:00 a.m. PST for the semi-finals of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament.
