It’s no surprise that during Chinese New Year (CNY), also known as the Lunar New Year, one of the most important aspects of the celebration is the food that’s prepared and eaten.

Each dish consumed has a special meaning, whether it’s promoting longevity, togetherness, fortune, or just to wish for a great year ahead.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the food is almost always stellar. Whether it be dim sum, dinner or the abundance of treats that enamour CNY, all is welcome and greatly enjoyed.

So when an elevated Chinese restaurant announces that they’ll be celebrating CNY with an AYCE dim sum buffet and other Chinese food? We’re listening…

1886, one of Vancouver’s latest in the Chinese Fine Dining scene looks to be doing just that. Between February 15 and 17, 2018 – from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm only – they’ll be offering a CNY lunch buffet.

The buffet will be served long-table style and includes some of their most popular items on the menu: dim sum, a carving and BBQ station, noodle and rice stations, as well as pastries.

Also at the buffet will be dishes from the rest of Parq Vancouver’s restaurants, including BC Kitchen, the Victor, Honey Salt, and Mrkt East.

Not included in the buffet, but easily worth trying, is 1886’s selection of tea – curated by Kathy Chan, Vancouver’s first tea sommelier.

The buffet will run you $58 per person and visitors must be over 19 years old. Reservations aren’t required, however they’re strongly recommended.
