Just over two years after a man was murdered inside a Vancouver apartment on Granville Street, police have now arrested and charged two men in connection with the case.

According to VPD, the investigation began on January 30, 2016, after officers were called to the Granville Street residence near West Broadway, just before 11 pm.

Upon their arrival they discovered the body of a man who was identified as 40-year-old Christopher Kwik.

On Wednesday, police announced that a pair of Surrey residents, Gage Edward McPake and Cody David Stuiver, have now each been charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of Kwik.

McPake was arrested in January and Stuiver was arrested on March 6.

Speaking to the length of the investigation, VPD Const. Jason Doucette said homicide investigations “are complex and often require a lot of time to piece together.”

The charges and outcome of this case “should send a clear message to those involved in serious crimes. Just because some time has passed, the police are still working to hold you accountable.”
