American solo musician, songwriter, and instrumentalist Andrew Bird is coming to Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre on May 21 in support of his newest album, “Are You Serious.”
Bird’s latest album showcases his breadth of the art by directly reflecting his own human experience, and includes key contributions from Fiona Apple and Blake Mills to attain a level of expression that’s a personal, evolutionary leap.
“Here I am with my most unguarded, direct, relatable album to date,” Bird said in a statement. “Go easy on me.”
Are You Serious is Bird’s second record with producer Tony Bird, following 2005’s breakthrough album “The Mysterious Production of Eggs,” which featured the track “Skin, Is My.”
“I set out to make a record that’s different than any I’ve made before,” Bird said. “I wanted to make an album musically crafted like a Wrecking Crew session, where you have to be good. There’s less wordplay and more intention to process some brutal times that I went through.”
