New app aims to help Americans moving to Canada after Trump win

The Canadian developers of a new iPhone app are hoping to help Americans who are thinking of moving to Canada after the shock election of Donald Trump as US President.

Andrew Ohara and Tim Lloyd, both from Vancouver, have spent two years developing the CityPOV app, which provides local news and community information.

Anyone thinking of moving to Canada can look up local statistics, landmarks, “regional intelligence” and engage with others in the community or anyone thinking of moving there.

In a release, Lloyd said they were all ready to launch the CityPOV app – then Trump’s win added another layer of purpose to their project.

“We realized that if some Americans are really serious about moving here, it is important for them to learn about our diverse, multicultural identity,” said Lloyd.

“One of the best ways to do that is to get to know more about some of the local communities that come together to make up this great country. CityPOV helps users to do just that.”

The CityPOV is free and available for iPhone in the App Store now. An Android app will follow in early 2017.
