31-year-old American man wanted for attempted murder of Vancouver woman

UPDATE: Andrew Charles Baldwin has been arrested by Vancouver Police.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for 31-year-old Andrew Charles Baldwin, a citizen of the United States, who is alleged to have attempted to kill a 28-year-old woman in an East Vancouver apartment on Wednesday night.

Vancouver Police responded to an incident just after 10 p.m. at an apartment located in the 1500 block of East 6th Avenue near Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman with serious stab wounds.

According to a police statement, she was rushed to hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition. Baldwin is believed to be responsible for the assault, and he fled the apartment unit before police arrived to the scene. Both the suspect and the female victim are known to each other; she was the target of the attack.

Police describe Baldwin as Aboriginal, six feet tall and with a stocky build, short black hair and brown eyes.
