This week’s model feature is on North Vancouver’s Aleisha Jones. Here is our interview with her.

Vancity Buzz: Tell the people of Vancouver a little bit about yourself?

Aleisha: I was born and raised in North Vancouver with very supportive parents and one brother that have always encouraged me to follow my dreams. I have one very strong willed shitsu/pomeranian, she’s 11 years old with a very evident mind of her own. Growing up my parent’s hosted ESL students in our house from all over the world, the travel bug was set in early on. I like to think I’m a very approachable, outgoing and personable person.

I was approached a lot by agents or parents of others in the industry with the idea to model. At the age of 12 I went to a talent search called Pro Scout where I got the opportunity to meet with a lot of people in the industry. It was there that I was introduced to my mother agent, Liz Bell, owner and founder of Liz Bell Agency. Strong willed and driven by a dream that stayed vivid in my mind I couldn’t wait to get started. I started with short trips to New York chaperoned by one of my parents in the beginning. My parents always have said from the moment I was born I did things on my own time, two weeks past my due date I like to think I was fashionably late.

VcB: Why modeling?

Aleisha: Singing, dancing and performing has always been a passion of mine. Being part of a big family and always surrounded by a lot of people meant I almost always had an audience and I have no concept of being shy. At every birthday or gathering with my relatives you can guarantee there is a camera or video camera near by! I played sports growing up too but was never very good. Just trying to get balance in my own body was awkward enough!

VcB: Besides modeling, what are your future aspirations?

Aleisha: Right now, I’m focusing on living in the moment and acting on as many opportunities that present themselves. Food, health, fitness and medicine have always intrigued me. I’ve thought about opening my own restaurant one day.

I really look up to those who use there following of the public or connections they’ve made throughout the world to raise awareness for humanitarian causes and that’s something I would also like to get really involved in.

VcB: Describe a typical day off?

Aleisha: In vancouver I find myself constantly surrounded by a different crowd, scenery and vibe nearly every ten blocks. I spend a lot of time with my friends shopping and going out to eat in various restaurants all over Vancouver. I like to hike, walk, bike and do water activities in the summer and save the gym workouts for the rainy days we get in Vancouver.

VcB: What’s your favorite type of music?

Aleisha: Music has always been something I love to relate to, depending on my mood or where I am it differs. Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, House and Hip-Hop are typically what you’ll catch me listening to. I like Coldplay, Robin Thicke, Keith Urban, Morgan Page, David Guetta, ATB, Cafe Del Mar… Just to name a few.

VcB: What’s your favorite thing about Vancouver?

Aleisha: Versatility. I love living in a place that really embraces all four seasons. Having mountains, beaches, city, suburb and country all in close radius opens up opportunity to experience and try new things. Often taken for granted, food from all over the world, whatever craving may be is never hard to come by.
